This Arlington Heights home may have started with modern farmhouse bones, but that style never quite felt like the right fit for the client. Early in the design process, she shared inspiration rooted in classic Parisian lofts, spaces that blend traditional details with a modern edge, layered with rich color and a sense of effortless glamour. That became our north star.
From there, the direction came together naturally. We leaned into deeper, moodier tones, layered in texture, and introduced moments of softness and shine through the lighting. Each selection was intentional but never overdone, creating a home that feels collected and inviting.
Lighting quickly became one of the defining elements of the project. From the sculptural fixture in the dining room to the dramatic statement piece in the stairway, each one adds its own moment of interest and a touch of glamour.
The fireplace was another key focus. We spent time exploring the right balance of material and detail before landing on a natural limestone mantel with a subtle fluted design. Paired with the rich blue walls, it creates a focal point that really pops.
The end result is a home that feels layered, moody, and much more aligned with the client’s personal style, a clear shift away from where it started, and a space that now feels entirely her own.
