This dining room started out, well, pretty boring. The room screamed for an upgrade. The walls had been beige and the molding was white. We decided to start by painting the walls and the trim a dusty blue. Because the room faces north and doesn’t get a ton of natural light and the new paint color is on the darker side, we used a paint finish with a slight sheen. The goal was to have what natural light the room does get to be bounced around with a slightly glossy finish. Next, we added statement lighting. The brass in this Arteriors chandelier contrasts the moody walls so well. We used a linear chandelier since the dining table is on the larger side and we wanted it to have a big impact on the room. To play off the brass in the light fixture, we added a fiber art wall hanging. The brass stripe running through the wall hanging is the perfect compliment to the light fixture. Finally, we added a fairly neutral rug in a durable material since it’s a kid-friendly/dog-friendly home. We love how the end result turned out!
